ROCK ISLAND – Today, West Peoria, Illinois Mayor James R. Dillon endorsed Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) for re-election. Mayor Dillon cited Cheri’s ability to listen, lead, and respond to her constituents—especially during the COVID-19 crisis. Mayor Dillon has served as Mayor of West Peoria since 1995.
“Cheri is an exceptional leader. She doesn’t just talk about helping people, she takes action. Cheri believes that elected officials should always work for the people,” said Mayor Dillon. “Cheri has a big heart for everyone and that’s why she takes time to listen to them, reach out to them and determine their needs and how she can help. By doing Supermarket Saturdays, where she walks the aisles of local grocery stores to ask folks what’s on their mind, she learns about their struggles. With that, she is able to help advocate for them in the best way possible.”
Mayor Dillon added, “Cheri often says: ‘we were born with two ears and one mouth for a reason, and we better use them proportionally.’ And she has demonstrated that during these difficult and historic times, when she took time out of her busy schedule to reach out to local leaders and listen to our needs and frustrations to answer questions.”
“Mayor Dillon is a devoted public servant who works hard and knows his city well. I am particularly grateful for his endorsement and support in this campaign,” Congresswoman Bustos said. “I will continue to work alongside excellent local leaders like Mayor Dillon to advocate for the issues important to hardworking families in West Peoria and across our region of Illinois.”
Now in her fourth term representing Illinois’ 17th Congressional District Congresswoman Cheri Bustos is a leader in the fight to lower health care costs, rebuild our region’s infrastructure, help Illinoisans weather the COVID-19 pandemic and work to safely reopen, and deliver real results for hardworking families across Northwest and Central Illinois.
