ROCKFORD, Illinois – Today, Savanna, Illinois Mayor Chris Lain endorsed Rep. Cheri Bustos for re-election. Mayor Lain cited Bustos’s commitment to representing everyone in her district, her strong commitment to promoting small businesses, and her effort to deliver for working families in her district. Lain, a small business owner, has served as Mayor of Savanna for three years and was the first LGBTQ mayor elected in Illinois.
“I’ve worked closely with Cheri since I was first elected and, here in Savanna, we couldn’t ask for a stronger partner who delivers on kitchen table issues we care about in Congress than Cheri Bustos,” Mayor Lain said. “It’s abundantly clear that Cheri isn’t concerned with scoring political points – she’s there to get the job done for the people she serves. I’m supporting Cheri because she has a strong record of putting politics aside to get results here in Illinois.”
“Mayor Lain has been a great public servant for the people of Savanna, and that’s why I’m so proud to accept his endorsement in this campaign,” Rep. Bustos said. “The people in North Central and Western Illinois deserve leaders who are committed to doing the most good for our region – and who deliver on keeping our communities and families protected and prospering. I’ll continue working with Mayor Lain and leaders across the region to make sure our communities are strong and thriving for the future.”
Now in her fourth term representing Illinois’ 17th Congressional District, Cheri Bustos is a leader in the fight to lower health care costs, raise wages and get real results for hardworking families across our region.
