EAST MOLINE – Today, East Moline Mayor Reggie Freeman announced his endorsement of Congresswoman Cheri Bustos for re-election, citing her advocacy for resources for cities like East Moline and their long-standing partnership. Mayor Freeman – who served for over 30 years on the East Moline Police Force and retired as Police Chief – took his current post in 2017.
“I knew of Cheri when she was a beat reporter and I was an East Moline Police Officer at the time, back in the late 80s,” said Mayor Freeman. “Cheri knows all about what East Moline needs and looks out for the future of East Moline. Since Cheri’s been in office as the Representative of our area of the 17th Congressional District … I have always had total confidence in her to look out for what’s the best interest not only for my city but also her entire district.”
“Reggie and I have known each other for a long time, and from day one, he has been committed to serving the public, in particular the people of East Moline,” said Congresswoman Bustos. “I am grateful to have his support, and look forward to continuing our work together to deliver for hardworking Illinois families.”
Now in her fourth term representing Illinois’ 17th Congressional District, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos is a leader in the fight to lower health care costs, rebuild our region’s infrastructure, help Illinoisans weather the COVID-19 pandemic, work to safely reopen the economy and deliver real results for hardworking families across Northwest and Central Illinois.
