Bustos Campaign to Utilize Innovative User-Friendly Tools to Connect with Illinoisans Amid COVID-19 Pandemic
ROCK ISLAND – Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) hosted a virtual office opening for her campaign office in Rock Island, Illinois with a swell of enthusiastic, grassroots support. Hardworking Illinoisans of all ages from across Illinois’ 17th Congressional District, which spans 14 counties across Northwest and Central Illinois, joined Cheri via Zoom. The group learned about safely engaging with their neighbors this election season and discussed kitchen-table issues such as affordable, quality health care, rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, fighting for our family farmers, and staying safe and healthy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“With so much at stake this election, like responding to COVID-19, protecting care for people with pre-existing conditions, lowering prescription drug prices, and fixing our roads and bridges, Illinoisans are ready to make their voices heard at the ballot box,” Congresswoman Bustos said. “I’m proud that our campaign is working to empower voters to safely cast their vote from home and efficiently engage with their neighbors through the use of innovative communication tools.
I’m grateful for the support of so many hardworking Illinois families. At the end of the day, this election is about the kitchen-table issues that matter most to our community and ensuring we have a government that works for the people.”
The Bustos campaign is committed to ensuring every Illinoisan is able to safely cast their vote this election as our nation continues to respond to the public health crisis. During today’s virtual office opening, Cheri encouraged Illinoisans to vote from home and shared vote by mail information.
To connect with voters in a contact-free way, the campaign has implemented the use of innovative communication tools that enable volunteers and supporters to connect with neighbors about the issues that matter most to them and their support for Cheri from the comfort of home. These tools consist of user-friendly texting apps that allow volunteers to contact a high volume of voters rapidly, automatic phone technology that allows supporters to connect to more voters quickly and safely from their own home, and various online video platforms that allow large groups of people to gather in a manner consistent with public health guidelines.
The campaign is also utilizing digital tools to highlight the voices of supporters throughout the district and center their concerns on the trail. Through the Citizen Endorsers program, farmers, veterans, small business owners, small town residents, servicemembers and more grassroots supporters, have spoken about why they back Cheri for re-election.
Now in her fourth term representing Illinois’ 17th Congressional District, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos is a leader in the fight to lower health care costs, rebuild our region’s infrastructure and get real results for hardworking families across Northwest and Central Illinois.
